Where does UPCleaner come from?

The application can be downloaded from its dedicated download website at Upcleaner.net or from the freeware distribution website Cnet.com. But it can also be found bundled with other software. In any case, the aforementioned websites are the program’s main channel of distribution, and that is where many people get it. UPCleaner is a product of a software developer called Brotsoft Technology. The developer’s website is Brotsoft.com, which features three more programs, but to our knowledge they are not considered as potentially unwanted. So that covers the origins section. Now, Let us take a closer look at how it works, and if the application is any good.

How does UPCleaner work?

UPCleaner has four main functions. The first one, called PC Boost is a function that terminates some system processes, and provides you with the ability to prevent specific third-party software from launching when Windows boots up. Everything seemed to be in order until we noticed the Internet Boost. It is hard to believe that this program will boost your Internet speed. It may close programs that require Internet connection, but overall this has little to no effect. The second one, called the Clean function fixes registry errors that are bound to reappear the next time you remove or update a certain program. They are unavoidable and have no impact on system performance. The third function, regarding system security provides functions, protecting your browser. How this application does that remains to be seen. The last function tests Internet speed, and it does show accurate results, so no criticism regarding this department.

It is, however, rather worrying that the application displays third-party advertisements. It really hurts UPCleaner’s image as a system utility. It shows the advertisements right there on the desktop that are totally out of place and may be very irritating to some of you. Besides, third-party ads are always unreliable, so we do not recommend clicking any one of them. All in all, the program seems to be only semi-useful, and there are plenty of programs that do a better job. And the fact that this application shows ads makes it undesirable so feel free to remove it.

How do I remove UPCleaner?

After running a few tests and searching for more information online, we have come to the conclusion that UPCleaner is not all that useful. It may seem like a good program for a novice PC user, since it cleans the Windows registry and does a few more good things, but it does not speedup system performance to such a degree that you would notice it. And of course it displays unreliable and annoying ads. Therefore, we recommend that you remove UPCleaner. All you have to do is go to the Control Panel and click the Uninstall button.
