Such ads should redirect users to the PUP’s homepage called tvhero.thewhizmarketing.com. The site claims that TVHero is a “must-have” extension for TV fans. If you consider yourself as a television fan, you might download the PUP instantly. However, installing software that you noticed on a suspicious pop-up may be a bad idea. In situations like this one, it is always advisable to look for user reviews and other available information, because descriptions might be false or exaggerated.

How does TVHero work?

TVHero might look like a useful extension to anyone who likes to read gossip or search for interesting TV shows. It provides users with a couple of links that could lead them to huffingtonpost.com/entertainment, edition.cnn.com/entertainment, hollywoodreporter.com, and so on. It could also show you posters of popular TV shows, and if you click them, the application might redirect you to Amazon.com, Netflix.com, etc. Even though all these mentioned websites are safe to visit, we cannot say the same about third-party web pages that could be advertised with search results.

As you see, the extension should change your homepage or new tab page settings too. That is why your browser might start loading search.mysearch.com. Unfortunately, the research shows that Mysearch.com could inject the results with third-party advertising. If you click such ads, you should be extremely careful once it redirects you to another website. Third-party web pages might promote malicious applications, such as viruses, worms, and other malware. Also, users could notice ads that advertise other PUPs, browser hijackers, adware, and so on. If you do not want to take such chances, you may want to consider removing the application.

How to delete TVHero?

3. Find a folder called lcfhngdkgapmemkhlmmklekphffaplin in all of the paths listed above.
4. Right-click each folder called lcfhngdkgapmemkhlmmklekphffaplin separately and press delete.
5. Navigate to the following path: %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
6. Find files named as chrome-extension_lcfhngdkgapmemkhlmmklekphffaplin_0.localstorage and chrome-extension_lcfhngdkgapmemkhlmmklekphffaplin_0.localstorage-journal.
7. Right-click each of it separately and click Delete.
8. Go to: %UserProfile%\Local Settings\Application Data\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default
9. Search for files named as Preferences and Secure Preferences.
10. Right-click them separately and press Delete.
