Tube Dimmer

What is Tube Dimmer?

Have you recently downloaded software which has an ability to dim the light area around the videos that you watch? If yes, you might have Tube Dimmer on your system. This program works on all the most popular video websites, for instance YouTube.com. Although it seems like a useful tool, you should not trust it because it will show you various advertisements once installed on the system. Even though it claims it is a 100% safe and secure program, you should better remove it because of all the following reasons which will be mentioned in this article.

How does Tube Dimmer act?

First of all, it might attract additional software that you do not need. Do you wonder how it is possible? You should know that this process is very simple. When you launch the installation wizard, you might not notice that there is a variety of other programs offered to you. If you are not attentive enough, you will install them on the system. In order not to end up with a wide range of applications, you should always select custom installation and unselect the programs which you do not wish to install. In the case of Tube Dimmer, make sure that you choose “Skip All” preference if you do not want additional software, for instance, a search toolbar.

Secondly, this program is closely related to various advertisements produced by third parties, which is why you should delete it. As it claims, it shows advertisements in order to stay free. As this browser extension is compatible with Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome, it means that various advertisements will appear to you if you use the aforementioned browsers. Our specialists have found out that you can see banners, in-text ads, and interstitial advertisements. However, you should not click on these advertisements because they might accompany you to the websites whose content is unknown or even malicious.

Finally, Tube Dimmer distinguishes itself as an adware program which is known to collect information about the browsing habits of computer users. The information which starts to be gathered once Tube Dimmer gets onto the computer includes IP address, the type of the operating system, your internet service provider, and the approximate location of your device. In addition, it is very interested in your browsing history, the time you spend on particular websites and activities that you perform on them as well as the web search queries that you enter into the search engine. All this information is shared together with the third parties in order to improve the relevancy of ads.

  1. Thanks for the rubbish advice, Lisa.

Tube Dimmer is a highly aggressive virus that installs itself deep into your operating system. It claims to be benign, simply enabling adverts, but I very much doubt it. The uninstall process you describe actually re-installs the software. It has resisted several attempts by anti-spyware software to be uninstalled.
