What is Tcontrol?
Tcontrol falls into the adware category, but if we were more precise, we could say that this application is an adware helper. It means that it does not work on its own, and the application empowers some other adware program that is probably installed on your computer. The chances are that you will not notice this application at first, so the best way to detect all the potential threats that might be hiding in your system is to run a full computer scan with a powerful antispyware tool. Then you will definitely be able to remove Tcontrol and all the other potential threats plaguing your system.
Where does Tcontrol come from?
It is obvious that no use would want to install Tcontrol on their computer willingly. Thus, this adware helper certainly does not have a direct distribution source. Rather, it employs the most common distribution method used by adware and freeware: software bundling.
Software bundling refers to a software distribution technique when multiple applications are bundled into one installer, and they are installed on a target system simultaneously. The installation is triggered by the users themselves, and it is quite often that they are not aware of the potential threats that might come in a software package. What’s more, the installation wizards tend to list all the additional features and applications that are about to be added to the target system, but a lot of users treat installation as a default formality and they do not even pay attention to the steps in the setup. As a result, Tcontrol and other potentially harmful applications manage to enter target systems.
That is right, if you happen to detect this adware helper on your computer, you should definitely run a full system scan with a security application to locate other unwanted programs. You are certainly bound to have lots of them because such programs seldom travel alone.
What does Tcontrol do?
Since this application works along with some adware program, it might do a range of things, depending on what the said program would require it to do. In general, however, it is very likely that Tcontrol will display a lot of commercial advertisements when you browse the web. The most annoying thing about this application is that it will try to open various advertisements even when your browser is closed.
What’s more, the websites opened by Tcontrol will be nonsensical. All of them will be based on the same pattern, and the main text in the website will hold no meaning. Instead, the sites will have a lot of commercial offers and other advertisements. Needless to say, the adware programs need you to click those ads because that is how they make money. And sometimes users may not even question the sites they get redirect to. But if you take a closer look at some of the pages opened by Tcontrol, you would soon notice there is nothing substantial about them.
For example, one of the pages states the following:
A state is a type of polity that is an organized political community living under a single system of government. States may or may not be sovereign.
Now, doesn’t it sound like an extract from an encyclopedia? Because that is what it is. These adware helpers copy texts from Wikipedia to fill up the space on their dead-end sites, while the main reason you see these pages is commercial advertisements.
You should refrain from clicking those ads because you can never know where they might take you. The point is that neither Tcontrol nor the adware program it “helps” checks the reliability of the third-party content, especially in the sites you land on. Hence, there is always a chance that this pay-per-click scheme will be exploited by malevolent third parties, and the advertising space will be used for malware distribution.

Due to such security concerns, you should remove Tcontrol and everything associated with it from your system as soon as possible. The manual removal is quite lengthy, and even after that, you should still scan your computer with a security tool because our removal instructions only cover the adware helper.
