Where does RockApps come from?

To date, the origins of this infection remain unknown. There is no information regarding its developer or if it has its own dedicated website. All we know is that it is bundled with InstallRex and sometimes Amonetize or Vittalia installers. We have received reports from users that they got this infection by clicking fictitious download buttons on pirated software distributing websites. There have also been reports that the application is circulated through torrent websites that also feature fake download buttons.

What does RockApps do?

The infection is compatible with the three most widely used web browsers, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. Upon infection, the application automatically connects to the Internet and begins displaying annoying advertisements. Note that all of the advertisements come in the form of pop-ups that you should not click under any circumstances. We recommend that you remove the infection because it is apt to infect your computer with far more dangerous malicious applications, such as ransomware, fake malware scanners, rootkits, and so on. These kinds of infections will be impossible to remove manually. So we encourage you to get an anti-malware scanner to ward off any infections such as RockApps in the future.
