Tweakerbit Antimalware

What is Tweakerbit Antimalware?

Tweakerbit Antimalware was categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) because of its rather suspicious behavior. Our researchers at Anti-spyware-101.com tested the application by performing a system scan with it, during which they revealed the tool might identify harmless data belonging to legitimate software as malicious. One can only wonder what would happen after clicking the removal button as it is entirely possible Tweakerbit Antimalware could erase the harmless files it identified as suspicious. Still, we cannot be sure since we only got to test the free version of the PUP that does not allow to remove threats and asks to register for a full version. However, we do not advise purchasing it or even getting it for free when there are no guarantees you will have any use for it. In fact, our specialists recommend not to waste your time with this PUP and eliminate it with the instructions available below or a more reliable antimalware tool. Where does Tweakerbit Antimalware come from?

It seems Tweakerbit Antimalware could travel with bundled installers of other similarly unreliable applications. Thus, it is quite possible users may download it after visiting questionable file-sharing web pages that may distribute various freeware programs, pirated software, and so on. If you download software from such sites yourself, we would advise you to be more careful in the future because the next time you could end up not with a PUP, but more dangerous threats like viruses, Trojans, and so on. A reliable antimalware tool could help you avoid such malicious applications, but you have to make sure it is legitimate and comes from a reputable company. As for the program in question, it is apparent it cannot be considered as reliable, and if you have researched it more before agreeing to install it, you would probably have known this already.

How does Tweakerbit Antimalware work?

The trial version of Tweakerbit Antimalware provides a scanning tool that is supposed to identify threats located on the computer and report them to the user. Nonetheless, after testing it ourselves, we can say we did not see any threats listed in the report we received. On the contrary, our researchers report that all files located on the test computer’s %TEMP% and %WINDIR%\Temp directories were identified as PUPs, including data belonging to such legitimate programs like Notepad++, MozillaFirefox, Opera, and some others. Another reason we do not trust the software is that it constantly reminds and urges the user to get the full version free of charge by calling a provided telephone number. Given the software looks quite suspicious we would advise against it as there is a possibility they could ask for personal information which might be used for sending the user advertising content and so on.

How to remove Tweakerbit Antimalware?

To settle in Tweakerbit Antimalware quite a few folders and new Registry entries that truth to be told might be left on the system even when the PUP gets uninstalled.
