Trojan.Adject

What is Trojan.Adject?

Trojan.Adject is a harmful threat that arrives on users’ computers without their knowledge and then starts performing malicious activities. It is still unclear why it has been developed by cyber criminals, but there is no doubt that it might do anything on affected machines, even install malware and record personal information. Unfortunately, users find out about its presence on their computers only after some time. We are not surprised at all that it takes some time to detect this infection because it works completely in the background, it does not have a program window, and, as research conducted by specialists at anti-spyware-101.com has revealed, it is installed on users’ computers without their knowledge. Trojan infections are extremely harmful threats that might do anything, so you should remove Trojan.Adject as soon as possible. This threat drops a file in the drivers folder and creates several entries in the system registry, so its removal will not be very quick and easy. Of course, it is possible to erase this nasty malicious application from the system – continue reading to find more about its removal.

What does Trojan.Adject do?

There is no doubt that Trojan.Adject enters computers illegally, but, unfortunately, it is still not easy to talk about activities it performs on affected computers. According to researchers, even though it is still unclear what it does on those computers it manages to infiltrate, it is very likely that it can perform all kinds of activities, for example, record keystrokes, steal personal information and send it to its C&C server, download malicious software and install it without the user’s knowledge, and even show advertisements. Some specialists say that the main job of Trojan.Adject is to inject HTML and JavaScript content into decent pages. If it is true, the chances are high that you will find commercial advertisements, links, or other malicious content on websites you visit. Make sure you do not click on any suspicious advertisements and links because the chances are high that you will be taken to untrustworthy pages containing bad software. Unfortunately, users do not immediately associate the appearance of irritating ads/links on their favorite websites with the entrance of malware because it seems that it is the website’s fault at first glance. If you are not 100% sure whether this Trojan is active on your computer too, you should know that you do not need to scan your system with an antimalware scanner to find out whether or not it is installed. All you need to do is to check the %WINDIR%\System32\drivers directory. Can you locate the prilock.sys file there? If so, you will need to go to erase Trojan.Adject from your system.

Where does Trojan.Adject come from?

Trojan.Adject does not differ much from other Trojans – it also enters users’ computers without their knowledge. To be more specific, it has been observed that it is installed together with the application called Lightning. Unfortunately, Trojan.Adject cannot be removed by erasing this program. Once it affects users’ computers, it immediately creates several registry keys and drops the prilock.sys file. If you can locate this threat on your computer, do not postpone its removal because it will not only perform various malicious activities, but it will also connect to the Internet periodically. It does not mean that you cannot encounter a similar malicious application after deleting Trojan.Adject from your PC, so make sure you install a reputable security application on your computer and keep it enabled 24/7.

How to delete Trojan.Adject

Since Trojan.Adject will not be removed from your system even if you erase Lightning, an application it comes with, you will need to remove all components belonging to this infection yourself. This is the only way to put an end to all malicious activities it performs. First, you need to delete the .sys file dropped by it. Then, you need to delete all three registry entries. Alternatively, the Trojan infection can be fully erased using an antimalware scanner. Make sure the tool you install on your system is 100% trustworthy.
