Pc Opticlean

What is Pc Opticlean?

Pc Opticlean appears to be a potentially unwanted program (PUP), so if you thought it to be a reliable piece of software, you should read our report and get to know it better. Our researchers say it has both annoying and suspicious qualities. Moreover, from what we have learned about the application during our tests, we would not advise counting on it when it comes to detecting critical system errors or threats. In any case, even if it would identify issues your computer might need to be fixed, you could not do so because the free version can only scan the computer. Of course, we do not recommend buying it when you cannot even test how it works, and there is a possibility you might find it completely useless. Thus, if you do not want to waste any time or your money on a PUP, you could follow the deletion instructions available at the end of this text.

Where does Pc Opticlean come from?

Pc Opticlean is offered on a website called pcopticlean.com. The program’s homepage looks rather standard as it provides the software’s download button, Privacy Policy and End User License Agreement papers, descriptions, technical requirements, etc. However, there is one other website related to the PUP. What we have in mind is safecart.com/pcopticlean/.pc-opticlean-c/purchase. As you probably realize it yourself, it is the website where one can purchase a paid version of this optimizer. Our researchers noticed the mentioned site does not list the application’s actual price, so the user has to add sums by himself to realize how much it costs without any discounts. What’s more, we noticed there is an optional feature with a tick box, and it does not have a clear price. The optimizer’s cost is said to be semiannual, but the additional product’s price is not explained. Consequently, we would advise users to be cautious, because it could be this amount will be taken from their accounts monthly should they decide to purchase the PUP’s premium package.

How does Pc Opticlean work?

Like any other application, once installed it should settle in by creating a couple of folders with data in %PROGRAMFILES(x86)% or other usual folders. Besides, it might create a task called PC OptiClean Schedule in %WINDIR%\System32\Tasks. Our researchers at Anti-spyware-101.com learned this should enable the PUP to launch itself automatically with Windows after each restart. What is even worse is Pc Opticlean does not give an option to disable this feature. Therefore, if you find the application annoying already, you can imagine how irritating it could become if it launches itself daily or even begins scanning the computer, especially if your computer is slow already and takes some time to load all programs.

The reason we do not believe Pc Opticlean would be able to avoid “blue screens,” “sluggish behavior,” or improve your computer’s performance in any way is that we learned it does not detect serious problems. Instead, it notifies the user about browser cookies, temporary files, old registry entries, etc. We highly doubt any of the listed data could cause serious errors or slower the computer. On the contrary, the reason why the device has been slower lately might be unreliable applications installed on it over the time, e.g., PUPs like Pc Opticlean, browser hijackers, adware, and so on. If you wish to have a clean and secure computer, we recommend picking a legitimate antimalware tool. It seems to us it would be smarter to invest in a product that can help and since we do not see how the application in question could be of any use, we advise removing it with no hesitation.

How to get rid of Pc Opticlean?

Users who decide to erase Pc Opticlean have two options. First one is to eliminate it manually by deleting all of its created data. The instructions available below should make this task easier since they will list the data you need to get rid of and tell you where to find it. Another way is to download a chosen antimalware tool and perform a full system scan. This option might be more beneficial because during the scan the legitimate tool you select could detect not just the PUP, but other possible threats as well so clicking the deletion button afterward would clean the device.
