What is nJoySport Search?
It seems that no day can go by a new potential threat like nJoySport Search emerging on the net. Our malware experts at anti-spyware-101.com have found that this potentially unwanted program (PUP) comes from a growing family of PUPs, including MusicNet Start, NetGaming Search, and FilmsApp Home. These PUPs have been promoted in groups of four or five but this latest one is claimed to be available with nine other PUPs on the same website. These browser extensions are more or less the same and only their names change and their themes. All of them work only in Google Chrome. This new extension offers you sports related searches and trending content. However, we believe that this tool could expose you to questionable third-party content, which may put your system security at risk if engaged with. Therefore, we suggest that you remove nJoySport Search from your browser because you could easily infect your computer with more serious malware threats or become the next victim of online scams.
Where does nJoySport Search come from?
Interestingly enough, you cannot install this new PUP via its promotional page, njoyapps.com. On this page, you can find ten very similar tools, such as nJoyMovies Now, nJoyMovies Search Plus, and nJoyGames Now; however, no sign of this particular browser extension. Yet, its Chrome web store page, chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/njoysport-search/nihafbdimboblakiepalngcngeampfda, does refer to this previously mentioned site as its official page. This is a bit suspicious but most likely is not enough for you to want to delete nJoySport Search right away. So, let us give you more reasons.
We have found that this PUP is also promoted in deceptive ways. You may, for example, click on a corrupt third-party pop-up advertisement claiming that you need to install a new plugin or an update to view content on the current page you are visiting. One click and you can install this tool even behind your back. This is still the better case since you can also install it via freeware bundles, which means that you may let more than just this one PUP on board. In fact, a bundle can pack several PUPs as well as malware infections, such as browser hijackers, adware programs, ransomware programs, and Trojans. If there is a chance that you have installed such a bundle lately by downloading free software from a questionable freeware site or by clicking on third-party ads on suspicious websites, we suggest that after you delete nJoySport Search from your browser, you also scan your system with a trustworthy malware scanner.
How does nJoySport Search work?
This PUP promotes tvnoop.com, which is a questionable website offering streaming movies, news, and sports. However, you could be exposed to potentially harmful third-party ads on these pages and you may not be able watch streaming content at all. Once you install this browser extension, a TV icon appears in your Chrome taskbar. If you click on this icon, a small window pops up with a search box and offered sports content to watch. This tool also changes your default search engine to sport.eanswers.com. But it also makes some changes to your homepage and new tab because these pages will not display the usual default search box anymore so that you be pushed to use the address bar to search the web, i.e., you would have to use this questionable search engine instead.
Unfortunately, you would find yourself on manipulated Yahoo search results pages if you were to use this search engine. This means that this PUP may inject its affiliated advertising into the original Yahoo search results. However, this could expose you to questionable third-party contents. If you clicked on those, there is a risk that you could infect your computer or end up on a malicious website where cyber crooks could scam you. This is why we advise you to act as soon as possible and remove nJoySport Search from your PC.
How can I delete nJoySport Search?
The only good thing we have found about this PUP is that it is quite easy to get rid of it. You can use our instructions below if you would like to manually eliminate it. However, after you remove this unwanted browser extension, your computer may not become all clean just like that. It is quite likely that it will take more since there could be several potential and malware threats on your system right now. This is why we suggest that you install a reliable malware removal application, such as SpyHunter, and have it protect your PC against all known threats. It is also important that you keep all your drivers and programs up-to-date because that could help you protect your computer from being attacked and accessed by cyber criminals.
