NetMeterX

What is NetMeterX?

NetMeterX is a PUP or a potentially unwanted program to be more precise. Even though such applications are not considered to be harmful or malicious, users should still be extra cautious with them. While the tool itself might be harmless, it could have annoying qualities or might introduce you to potentially dangerous content, for example, unreliable third-party advertisements. Therefore, before placing such software on the system, it is essential to learn all about it, which is why further in this article we will tell you more about NetMeterX. Our researchers do not recommend taking any chances with it, and so at the end of this page, you can find instructions explaining how to remove the PUP manually. Also, if you have any questions, keep in mind you can leave us a message below the article.testtest

Where does NetMeterX come from?

Same as many other PUPs, NetMeterX might travel with bundled setup files shared on sites offering pirated installers, via suspicious pop-up ads, and so on. Thus, our researchers at Anti-spyware-101.com say users should stay away from untrustworthy file sharing web pages and install software only when they are sure it is one hundred percent harmless and cannot introduce you to potentially dangerous content. If you wonder how you can identify possible threats, we would recommend paying attention to the software’s developers as the company has to be reputable. Besides, users should read expert and user reviews to gain an impression. However, do not forget all reviews can be fake, so if it sounds too good to be true or, for example, all user reviews say the tool is “amazing,” you should be extra cautious and investigate the chosen tool even more carefully. It might sound complicated, but a clean and threats-free system should be a good reward for all your efforts.

How does NetMeterX work?

NetMeterX is a network monitor, which means the application was designed to monitor downloaded/uploaded data. It has a small window, and its display is not complicated, but even so, we would not recommend using it. Our researchers discovered the PUP could be showing unreliable advertising content, for example, pop-ups, banners, sponsored links, and other ads coming from unknown third-party web pages. Naturally, the ads may not be harmful, but given they could come from different third parties, it is possible some of them could contain links to sites offering similar PUPs, asking to submit private data for fake lotteries/surveys, sites containing malware, etc. As the tool does not have a lot of functions and you could easily replace it with more reputable tools, we do not think it is worth taking any risks. Provided, you do not want to risk coming across any suspicious content the Pup’s ads could promote, we would advise you to remove NetMeterX.

How to erase NetMeterX?

Since NetMeterX is not malicious, deleting it from the system is not a difficult task. Nonetheless, if you need any assistance with it, you should not hesitate to use the instructions we are adding at the end of this article. Also, users who prefer using automatic features can download a legitimate antimalware tool and perform a system scan after which they should be able to get rid of the PUP and other detected threats at once.
