MySportTab

What is MySportTab?

MySportTab seems to be a potentially unwanted program (PUP) working only on Google Chrome browsers. Our researchers at Anti-spyware-101.com say the extension might modify some of the user’s preferences and also show him questionable advertising content from the software’s third-party partners. Provided you do not like the changes made by MySportTab, or you do not want to risk coming across possibly harmful advertising content, we advise you not to take any chances with this add-on and remove it at once. Users who need help with this task could use the deletion instructions placed at the end of this report. As for those who still have doubts, we would advise reading the rest of this text and get to know the PUP better. If you still have any questions about it after reviewing our report, keep it in mind you can leave a comment at the end of this page too.testtesttest

Where does MySportTab come from?

Same as other PUPs, MySportTab might travel with suspicious pop-up advertisements urging to install it. The pop-ups could be encountered while visiting untrustworthy web pages, for example, torrent or other P2P file-sharing networks. There is also a possibility such ads could be distributed by adware, other PUPs, browser hijackers, and so on. It means there could be other questionable applications on your device. If you suspect this might be true, it would be a good idea to scan the computer with a legitimate antimalware tool. Plus, to keep the system clean we would recommend staying away from unreliable file-sharing web pages and paying more attention to the reliability of the programs you want to install . There are a few things that could help users determine whether the program is worthy of their trust, for example, expert or user reviews and ratings, information about the application’s creators, Privacy Policy, and End User License Agreement papers, etc.

How does MySportTab work?

After installation, the PUP should place mysearch.com instead of the browser’s default search engine and new tab page. Besides the mentioned search engine the user gets a toolbar on which he can find links to foxsports.com, amazon.com, bbc.com/sport, tripadvisor.com, and so on. Having these links around may look useful if you visit the listed web pages daily, but users should not forget instead of the toolbar they could use the Google Chrome’s Bookmark bar. This way you could load the listed sites just as quickly and without the help of MySportTab. The reason our researchers are against this extension’s usage is that its offered search engine (mysearch.com) might inject displayed collected results with third-party advertising content. Sadly, since it may come from different software’s third-party partners, it is difficult to say what they could promote. In fact, there is a possibility some part of the ads might originate from possibly malicious web pages, and so they might suggest installing other PUPs, adware, browser hijackers, or even malicious applications, invite the user to participate in fake surveys, and so on.

How to erase MySportTab?

One of the ways to get rid of MySportTab is to delete all of the data created or modified by this add-on manually. If you feel up to this task, you should have a look at the instructions provided a bit below this paragraph as they will explain what to do step by step. Nonetheless, if removing the PUP manually seems a bit too complicated for you, we would recommend employing a legitimate antimalware tool of your choice.
