How does LiveSportSearch work?
It appears that the only somewhat official installer for LiveSportSearch is found at the Chrome Web Store – chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/livesportsearch/gfnohpemnmceakhooelmeddmkdpbfnff. Is this where you downloaded the suspicious extension from? If it is, the description attached to the installer might have made you think that the extension can help you browse the web in a more efficient manner. The same description is used to promote VideosSearches, ConverterSearchTool, HDMusicStreamSearch, and also other Chrome-compatible extensions from the same family. They are all supposed to enhance the search results shown via Yahoo Search, but this is a bogus offer. In reality, these PUPs “optimize” search results by showing third-party links and ads. Basically, they redirect to Yahoo Search (search.yahoo.com) and display third-party links/ads along with normal results. Is that a reason to remove LiveSportSearch? We believe that it is because you simply cannot know how trustworthy or untrustworthy the additional links could be. For all you know, they could route to malware sites!
LiveSportSearch does not redirect to Yahoo Search randomly. It does that using feed.livesportsearch.com, which is set as the default search provider of your browser after the installation of the PUP.
