How does LiveSportSearch work?

It appears that the only somewhat official installer for LiveSportSearch is found at the Chrome Web Store – chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/livesportsearch/gfnohpemnmceakhooelmeddmkdpbfnff. Is this where you downloaded the suspicious extension from? If it is, the description attached to the installer might have made you think that the extension can help you browse the web in a more efficient manner. The same description is used to promote VideosSearches, ConverterSearchTool, HDMusicStreamSearch, and also other Chrome-compatible extensions from the same family. They are all supposed to enhance the search results shown via Yahoo Search, but this is a bogus offer. In reality, these PUPs “optimize” search results by showing third-party links and ads. Basically, they redirect to Yahoo Search (search.yahoo.com) and display third-party links/ads along with normal results. Is that a reason to remove LiveSportSearch? We believe that it is because you simply cannot know how trustworthy or untrustworthy the additional links could be. For all you know, they could route to malware sites!

LiveSportSearch does not redirect to Yahoo Search randomly. It does that using feed.livesportsearch.com, which is set as the default search provider of your browser after the installation of the PUP. Did you notice that the default provider was changed? If you are used to using Yahoo Search, you might not have noticed that because the hijacker redirects instantly. Of course, even if you notice the modification, you might think that it can ensure the best results imaginable. That is not the case at all. In fact, it does not look like the creator behind LiveSportSearch cares at all what kinds of results you face. All they care about is that you click on the injected ads because they are likely to earn money only when you click on them. To aid third-party advertisers, the creator of the PUP shares valuable information about you and your browsing activities, and this data is collected with the help of cookies. The shocking thing is that the PUP can collect and share both non-personal and personal data, which is why you should initiate its removal ASAP.

How to delete LiveSportSearch

LiveSportSearch might sound like an extension with great potential, but the name is misleading, and this extension is identical to tons of other PUPs that, apparently, were created for two reasons alone. The first one of them is to help collect data about users. The second is to showcase advertisements. They are shown among normal search results on Yahoo Search, and that should increase the chances of users clicking on them. Hopefully, you have not been tricked into visiting unreliable websites and scammed. Without a doubt, we recommend removing LiveSportSearch; especially since it offers nothing useful at all. If you would like to, you can delete this PUP manually. The instructions below show how to do it. However, if the PUP was installed with other threats, and if you are struggling to keep your system safe, this is the time for you to implement anti-malware software. Hopefully, you will be more careful about installing extensions in the future, something you cannot forget about even if you secure your system.
