Godra Ransomware

What is Godra Ransomware?

Godra Ransomware can mainly show up on your computer if you live in Croatia; at least, our malware specialists at anti-spyware-101.com say that this ransomware program must target Croatian-speaking users. So, the rest of the world might be in the luck this time but this can never be claimed with 100% certainty. This malicious threat attacks and encrypts the usual media and database files to cause the most possible damage to anyone infected with it. All this in order to extort money from you for the decryption software; and, not even a small amount. We do not believe that these cyber villains care about you and your encrypted files enough to send you the decryption software even if they have one. Experience shows that it is more likely that these crooks disappear after your transfer. We advise you to remove Godra Ransomware immediately if you wish to restore order on your system.testtest

Where does Godra Ransomware come from?

To infect your computer with such a vicious program all you need to do is be a bit curious and open a spam e-mail that has an attachment. Of course, when you open it you would not know or think that it is a dangerous spam e-mail. On the contrary, you would feel that it is urgent and important for you to see the content. However, you will not be any wiser since such a spam will not disclose too much about the matter. It is more likely to find a short message to point you towards the attached file as a source for further details. Please note that viewing this file, even if it may look like a photo or a text document on the surface, would doom your files since you would simply activate this dangerous ransomware program. In most cases this is the point of no return. In other words, you will not be able to delete Godra Ransomware without having your files encrypted.

Apart from becoming more careful with your e-mails, we also recommend that you keep your browsers and Java and Flash drivers always updated. Cyber criminals may use Exploit Kits to infect you with such ransomware. These kits are used to design malicious webpages that can drop an infection the moment they are loaded in your outdated browser. You can easily land on such a page if you click on unsafe third-party ads on suspicious websites, for example. If you do not wish to end up having to remove Godra Ransomware or any other similar dangerous threat, you should take our advice seriously.

How does Godra Ransomware work?

As we have already mentioned, this new ransomware threat targets Croatian computer users. It can encrypt all your pictures, music files, videos, documents, and databases as usual. The encrypted files assume a ".godra" extension. Two files are copied to every folder where encryption has taken place, "KAKO OTKLJUČATI VAŠE DATOTEKE.txt" and "KAKO OTKLJUČATI VAŠE DATOTEKE.log." After all its operations have finished, this malware program displays a pop-up dialog window that informs you about the attack and instructs you to read the ransom note.

This ransom note pushes you to pay 2 thousand euros' worth of Bitcoins for the decryption software. You have to transfer this money to the provided Bitcoin wallet address. You have 48 hours to do so or the price doubles. You are given additional 72 hours to comply or you will lose the possibility of decrypting your files for good. Once the transfer is done, you need to write an e-mail to "godra@protonmail.ch" with your ID and your Bitcoin address so you would get a reply message with the decryptor. However, we do not advise you to go along with it because these criminals may not deliver at all. If you do not want to risk losing your money, too, we suggest that you remove Godra Ransomware right away.

How do I delete Godra Ransomware?

Our tests show that this ransomware infection does not copy itself anywhere on your system and it simply works from the locations where you saved it. Therefore, it should not be too difficult for you to locate it and delete it along with all the ransom notes. Fortunately, this malware program does not block or disable any processes, so you can easily perform our guide below even if you are not an advanced user. But it may be more complicated to hunt down all other possible threats or to keep your PC protected against them.
