What is Findr?
Findr is a toolbar that is supposed to improve your Internet browsing experience. This browser extension is compatible with Internet Explorer, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers. The toolbar comes with a separate search bar and a few shortcuts to weather, news channels, YouTube and other websites that you may customize if you want to. Findr is not a malicious computer infection, but the general consensus is that you would be better off without it as well. Therefore, remove Findr from your computer to make sure that you do not get exposed to malware.
Where does Findr come from?
To tell you the truth, Findr is part of a huge browser plugin family. It is developed by Conduit Ltd, and therefore, the plugin is available for download at findr.ourtoolbar.com. This domain is the main website where you can download a huge number of customized Conduit browser extensions. However, just like with the most of the browser plugins, the official website is not the only place where you can download it at. More often than not Findr is downloaded with freeware applications from non-official websites. For example, it may come with shareware games and other applications that may not be extremely necessary, but the users just want to have them.
During the installation, Findr does not get into your system surreptitiously. This browser plugin prompts you about the oncoming installation, and you can choose whether you want your home page and your default search engine changed to search.conduit.com and Findr Customized Web Search. According to Findr, it makes use of the customized Bing search, but that does not mean that you can trust this extension blindly.
Why is Findr dangerous?
Although the extension itself is not a computer virus, it may be configured to display links to commercial and even corrupted websites, because the toolbar and the plugin itself does not review the links that it promotes. Not to mention that the extension may significantly slow down your Internet and your overall computer performance so you should definitely remove it from your PC.
