What is EverydayMemo Toolbar?
Did you research EverydayMemo Toolbar before installing it into your Windows operating system and Internet Explorer, Google Chrome, or Mozilla Firefox web browser? If you did, the chances are that you did not install it at all. Otherwise, you might have decided that the benefits of the suspicious application outweighed the security risks that are associated with it. If you did not research the application before installing it, you might have been surprised regarding its activity. For example, you should have been surprised by the introduction of the MyWay search engine that is integrated into the interface of the application. Furthermore, you might have expected the app to install as a separate toolbar that floats at the top of the browser. Instead, it is represented via a new tab page, and it might be represented via the homepage of Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox browsers too. Due to this, some remove the toolbar because they believe it to be a browser hijacker. While we do not classify it as a hijacker, we do advise deleting EverydayMemo Toolbar from your browsers.
How does EverydayMemo Toolbar work?
As you can tell by the name of EverydayMemo Toolbar, the application is meant to help users create memos. Since fewer and fewer people are using the pen-and-paper technique to take notes, more and more applications, extensions, widgets, and programs that offer to take notes digitally emerge. Does the toolbar work? It does to some extent, and so you might decide that the application is reliable right away. Of course, you must not rush to any conclusion. If you take a better look at this application, you might notice that creating notes/memos is not the only service that the program provides. Once the toolbar is installed, and the homepage and/or New Tab is taken over, the memo creator can be shown or hidden. However, the search field in the center and the third-party links below it are always on display. The third-party links are legitimate (e.g., facebook.com, youtube.com, or instagram.com), but the search engine is very strange. In fact, this engine is one of the reasons our research team classifies the toolbar as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) and why its removal is recommended.
EverydayMemo Toolbar might have been created – at least in some part – to present MyWay Search. This search engine has been introduced to users by MyWayNotes Toolbar, FreePDFCombiner Toolbar, ShoppingDealsLive Toolbar, and many other toolbars created by the same company, Mindspark Interactive Network. Is the company earning a profit when users click the links presented via this search engine? That is likely to be the case. All in all, the search services are very suspicious because MyWay shows modified google.com/search results. This means that normal search results are mixed with potentially unreliable sponsored links. This is a huge thing you need to think about. Another thing to think about is the security of information. Although EverydayMemo Toolbar shouldn’t collect personally identifiable data, it can record your activity and then transmit it to unknown third parties. Every company has partners, but not everyone hides them. Ultimately, whether or not you delete the toolbar depends on your decision, but if you take it all into consideration, you might realize that the seemingly beneficial memo-creator is just another advertising/data-collecting tool that should be deleted.
