EasyCouponsAccess

What is EasyCouponsAccess?

EasyCouponsAccess is yet another extension created by Eightpoint Technologies Ltd, which is an affiliate of Polarity Technologies Ltd., a well-known company that our Anti-Spyware-101.com research team has faced many times before. The app we are discussing in today’s report is classified as a potentially unwanted program (PUP), and that is exactly how we identify EarthAndSatelliteMaps, Best File Converter, QuickMapsAndDirections, and many other extension created by Eightpoint Technologies. As you might have figured out already, we recommend deleting all of these programs. In this report, however, we focus on removing EasyCouponsAccess. Although it might promise you to access legitimate coupons and, consequently, help you save money, we do not recommend trusting this program. If you already have reasons to eliminate this extension, scroll down to find a guide that will help you. If you want to learn more about the application first, continue reading.testtest

How does EasyCouponsAccess work?

Did you download EasyCouponsAccess from easycouponsaccess.com or the Chrome web store (chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/easy-coupons-access-v12/ghhnaolnpcokjflnfaaepoemgpcnkkao)? These are considered to be official sources, but that does not mean that you can trust them. It was found by our research team that even the official installer can push you to download the suspicious EasyCouponsAccess along with other unfamiliar programs. For example, Search Encrypt and another PUP named “QuickMapsAndDirections” – which, as you know, comes from the same family, could be offered. If you are not familiar with a program, you should never install it even if it is free. PUPs, adware, hijackers, and the most malicious Trojans are all free, and you would not install them willingly, would you? According to our malware experts, although Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer users – who install an application instead of an extension – can use official sources, malicious installers could be employed too. If you have used an unreliable installer, and now a bunch of suspicious programs are active, scan your operating system immediately to learn which ones require removal.

The problem with EasyCouponsAccess is that it does not look dangerous. Sure, it cannot download malware or steal banking information, but it can track your activity using tracking cookies, and they can pass the recorded information onto parties we know nothing about. Furthermore, even though the interface of the PUP – which is represented via Search.heasycouponsaccess.com – offers links to couponsventure.com, retailmenot.com, and similar coupon-related sites, it also exposes users to a browser hijacker. The search field represented via Search.heasycouponsaccess.com cannot be trusted because search queries redirect to Yahoo Search, and the results are modified to include sponsored content. Is it safe for you to interact with the search results? We do not think so, and that is the most important reason to delete EasyCouponsAccess. According to our experts, the hijacker can take over the default search provider, as well as the homepage and New Tab pages. Luckily, it appears that you do not need to remove Search.heasycouponsaccess.com separately, and the hijacker should be gone along with the potentially unwanted program.

How to remove EasyCouponsAccess

If you thought that you would save money with the help of EasyCouponsAccess, we have to disappoint you. This, allegedly, beneficial program is kind of useless, and, on top of that, it might be intrusive and misleading too. Even though it displays a few links that route to coupon-related sites, you can easily visit the same sites without having to install anything. The PUP does NOT present exclusive access to these sites. Aside from that, we recommend deleting EasyCouponsAccess because it spies on its users, and the recorded information can be passed onto undisclosed third parties. It is also known that Search.heasycouponsaccess.com – which takes over the homepage, New Tab, and default search provider after the PUP’s installation – redirects without permission and then shows modified results. All in all, there are plenty of reasons to initiate the removal of this extension. If it was installed along with other threats, it is best to install anti-malware software. It will erase all existing threats automatically. If you are sure you can handle it all on your own, start with the manual removal guide below.
