Where does Binkiland virus come from?

Binkiland virus comes from a family of notorious browser hijackers. Our security researchers say that Binkiland virus is practically identical to Astromenda, Vosteran, Taplika, and other hijackers from the group. These infections are known to pose as reliable search service providers, while in fact they take over your browser by force, modifying your settings without your permission.

Needless to say, it is not possible to download Binkiland virus directly, because who would want to have such a thing on her computer? Thus, the infection utilizes other methods to get distributed across the web. Our research shows that it usually comes in Installcore installers from third-party sites such as malavida.com. It is very common that users download freeware and shareware apps from unofficial websites because they think that downloading things for free will save them some cash.

Well, that is not always the case because you could end up installing Binkiland virus, and that would certainly do no good to your savings. Hence, if you encounter promotions for such programs as DealKeeper, MyPCBackup, RegClean Pro or Optimizer Pro, stay away from them as far as possible, because Binkiland virus is known to travel with these apps.

What does Binkiland virus do?

As any genuine browser hijacker, Binkiland virus hijacks your start page, search page, and the new tab. It sets binkiland.com as your default homepage and offers you a search service. However, entering a search query into Binkiland virus’s search box will eventually redirect you to us.yhs4.search.yahoo.com. It is a customized Yahoo! Search page, which means that the hijacker does not and cannot provide you with original search service. What’s more, the search results displayed on the customized Yahoo! page might be rigged, and clicking them would most definitely redirect you to malicious websites.

On top of that, Binkiland virus also has its own browser called Binkiland that is based on the Chromium engine. If you install the full version of this infection, the Binkiland browser will be set as your default browser, but the good thing is that you can uninstall it via Control Panel.

How do I remove Binkiland virus?

Since this browser hijacker is not an actual virus, you can still remove it from your computer manually. However, manual removal does not guarantee that Binkiland virus will be gone for good. Therefore, once you are down with restoring your browser settings, you should run a full system scan with the SpyHunter free scanner because you need to detect and remove all the other potential threats that might have entered your system while Binkiland virus was on.

Do not forget to invest in a legitimate antispyware tool to safeguard your computer against similar intruders in the future. Also, you can always leave us a comment if you have any further questions on how to ensure your system’s security, or if something goes wrong during to the manual removal.

I have Norton, but after I got "hit", it didn't find the Binkiland on my website.

I have Windows 8 and did remove it from my control panel. But that's not the end of it. I then downloaded anti-malware and it removed 79 infections caused by it. I then had the malware check again and it said it was gone.

But it's not. When I do a search on my browser it comes up and opens a yahoo browser after it shows up as the main URL

I have also deleted all my cache-- all my passwords, website urls, etc. from both IE 11 and Chrome.

I'm going to call Norton next for help. And use the site you recommend for removal, too.

I think I got it from a website that told me that my Adobe Flash needed an update.

Just a warning that it's not easy to remove.

  2. It also must have put Price Fountain on my site, too.
