AllPCOptimizer

What is AllPCOptimizer?

Most probably you can guess what AllPCOptimizer offers you as an application because of its telltale name. As a matter of fact, it would be more revealing for us to say what it “claims” to offer. Obviously, there must be something shady about this software that it has ended up on our website. Due to the suspicious traits it showed while our researchers tested this program quite thoroughly, it has been categorized as a potentially unwanted program (PUP). This simply means that this software means no direct danger to your computer, although it might cause certain virtual security issues indirectly. Inexperienced computer users may have and keep a number of such applications on their computers without ever realizing the potential risks. Unfortunately, PUPs do not only take up unnecessary space on your hard drive, but they may also present some kinds of system security problems to you. Where does AllPCOptimizer come from?

This application is in no way unique. In fact, our researchers have discovered that this PUP is an identical clone of Win PC Optimizer and OnePCOptimizer. You can find the official website of this questionable software at allpcoptimizer.com. At first sight, of course, it all looks a professional and legitimate website. That is why you may feel that finally you have found a useful free tool that can optimize the performance of your PC. At least, until you actually start using this PUP. However, according to our specialists this promotional site is not really the main source of this software.

Unluckily for inexperienced computer users, this application may also show up on their computers silently, i.e., without their knowledge. This can happen in two ways. First, it is possible that a Trojan infection has slithered onto your computer and is hiding on your computer right now. This Trojan may have installed this PUP in the background. It is also a possibility that you have run a malicious file updater and that installed this application. Both of these options can mean that your PC has been infected with malware previously. This means that it will not be enough to delete AllPCOptimizer as a suspicious program, but you will also need to detect all other potential threats. It is essential that you protect your computer by removing all infections you may find on board. Otherwise, you will not be safe while going online or using your computer either.

What does AllPCOptimizer do?

Once this PUP is activated, it seemingly scans your computer and returns with possibly fake results. Even if your operating system is supposed to be a new and clean install, it is possible that this PUP will still find hundreds of issues and bugs to fix. We have found that this tool mostly checks temp files and junk files as well as empty Windows Registry keys. But even that is not useful because this application seems to keep crashing, which is rather annoying. It has also been noticed that every time this software displays a fake alert, it sends certain information to its server, including the date and time, and your IP address as well. There are two versions of this PUP: the free and the full for $19.99. Obviously, the free version will not get you too far. The main goal of this version is to make you call one of these allegedly toll-free numbers: 1-800-406-8501, 1-800-311-5934, and 1-800-311-5942, after making you believe that there are lots of serious issues to fix.

The problem with calling these numbers is that there are lots of phone scams around and we have a bad feeling about this PUP as well. It is possible that calling the provided numbers will cost you a lot of money; for example, you may talk to schemers who want to trick you into buying their products. But it is also possible that they simply want you to reveal your personal details that can be either sold in the black market or used in online frauds. All in all, whenever such PUPs give you phone numbers to call, you should have an alarm bell start ringing inside. Since this software proved to be totally unreliable and useless as well, we believe that you should delete it from your computer to avoid any contact with potential schemers.
