Our computer security experts categorize Musicloud as adware. This means that this program mostly displays commercial content with the intention to make you click it. The problem with adware programs is that they seldom check whether the third-party commercial content they display is reliable or not. This presents several security loops that could be easily exploited by cyber criminals. This program has an official website at musicloud.io. It looks like a user-friendly music service that supports YouTube, Spotify, iTunes, Amazon, and so on. The page is entirely in French, which would suggest that the main target audience of this application is the French-speaking users, but the program clearly does not recognize national borders. It would settle down in your computer without much difficulty, no matter where you are situated.
According to the information the main homepage, Musicloud is compatible with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8. If you use the online player, it is supposed to work on Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, and Google Chrome. However, when we tried to download Musicloud from the official website, we were only redirected to a blank page.
What’s more, during our tests we have found that this application often comes bundled with freeware apps in software packages. This means that users install several potentially unwanted programs on their computers even if they are not aware of that.
As far as the origins of this program are concerned, our security experts have found that Musicloud is related and shares several system files with the potentially unwanted program WebPlayer. Thus, the application clearly has a history, and it should be reckoned with.
What does Musicloud do?
Musicloud exhibits behavioral patterns that are very similar to those of WebPlayer. When the program is installed on a target computer, it adds an icon on the desktop. If the user opens that icon, the web browser launches automatically, and the user is redirected to musicloud.co.
The program also has a few running processes that make it behave like an adware application. It may take some time for the program to rear its nasty head, but our file analyzer has shown that almost all the processes run by Musicloud are considered to be dangerous.
If you did not want to have this program on-board, you definitely need to get rid of Musicloud immediately. At the same time, do not forget all the other programs that might have been installed on your PC with this adware app.
How do I remove Musicloud?
