DivX Toolbar

What is DivX Toolbar?

DivX Toolbar is yet another Conduit community toolbar available from divx.ourtoolbar.com. Our Anti-Spyware-101.com researchers have discovered that even though an official DivX browser bar exists, most users face the one represented with the Cool2 name. What is the purpose of this toolbar? Surely, you can customize it to provide easy-access links to any of your favorite websites; however, the main purpose of the program is to advertise the Conduit search tools. These provide supported ads, which may aggravate reliable and secure web browsing. Even though the toolbar is not a browser hijacker, many computer users believe that it distributes potentially unwanted programs which are difficult to remove. Our spyware researchers have analyzed the program and have prepared reliable removal instructions.

 How does DivX Toolbar act?

The two search tools related to the suspicious toolbar include the DivX Customized Web Search and the Conduit Search home page – search.conduit.com. You should be careful with both of them because they are supported through third-party advertisements. In many cases these ads are harmless, and you may find them just slightly irritating. Needless to say, if your operating Windows system is guarded with reliable, up-to-date automatic spyware detection and removal software, you will not need to worry about any ads. If any of them were malignant, an existing security tool would simply block any reoccurring threats. However, if you do not have any tools which could detect and remove malware, you could face serious problems.

As research indicates, cyber criminals are trying to expose as many security backdoors as they possibly can. Without a doubt, online advertising is one of them. Let’s say schemers introduced themselves as authentic software distributors and paid money to the Conduit in order to expose you to misleading ads which were personalized accordingly to your browsing habits. Note that Conduit can share this information collected through web cookies with affiliates. You clicked on this misleading ad and downloaded an offered tool or followed the given instructions. Unfortunately, this is exactly how schemers could utilize DivX Toolbar to drop malware onto the computer. Make sure that automatic malware detection and removal tools are employed to have the PC shielded against them.

How to remove DivX Toolbar?

If you are not cautious and follow the recommendations of DivX Toolbar, you may discover the home page and the search provider of your browsers modified. Even though the implemented search tools could seem beneficial and useful, there is a great chance that malignant third parties could utilize them to install malign tracking cookies or even spyware which you will need to delete.
