What does Browserwarden Ads do?

Browserwarden Ads is another product of the Smart Apps group that is infamous for developing such dubious applications like Surf Safely, SlamDunk Savings, Coupon Waterfall, Savings Hunter, Browserkeeper, etc. Just like these and so many other applications crafted by Smart Apps Browserwarden Ads works in a very similar way.

After a successful infiltration Browserwarden Ads will install browser extensions to all the major web browsers – Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Internet Explorer. Sometimes these extensions cannot be simply removed via browser settings menu; thus, Browserwarden Ads removal is needed. Furthermore, after the extensions are installed your browser will be flooded with numerous useless commercial adverts whether you like it or not.

Browserwarden Ads changes the Windows hosts file. It adds an additional line (54.225.95.126 hjjjegfhiceggepdokloeepnhlfnedkk). It needs to be noted that the hosts file could be used in a few different and quite opposing ways. For instance, you could edit the hosts file in order to stop certain activities from certain IP addresses. In the case of Browserwarden Ads, the change of the hosts file is done to achieve the opposite goal – promote certain websites; mostly the ones that are associated with commercial advertising.

We noticed that Browserwarden Ads comes bundled with a potentially unwanted application known as BenchUpdater. Our team at Anti-Spyware-101.com revealed that most likely BenchUpdater is responsible for changes made within the Windows hosts file and could also serve as an adware helper in order to update Browserwarden Ads. Or even worse – it could be used to restore Browserwarden Ads after it was removed improperly.
