Change Startup Programs

What is Change Startup Programs?

How to customize auto-start for other users

If there are a few user accounts on your computer, each of them has different startup settings. As a result some programs start automatically for one user while for another they don’t. You can change these settings by launching Registry Editor. The start-up programs for different users are stored up either under the user’s registry location or in the local machine hive. Take note, that if you remove entries from the Local machine directory, they will disappear from all the accounts.

To proceed with the modification, do the following:

1) Launch Registry Editor by opening the Start Menu and entering “regedit” into the search box. Hit Enter.
2) Wait for the utility to load and then go through the location folders to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE --> SOFTWARE --> Microsoft --> Windows --> CurrentVersion --> Run. There you will be presented with a list of applications that start automatically upon the system start-up.

3) In order to get rid of a program you simply need to right-click it and choose “Delete”. Perhaps you might want to add another entry into auto-start list. Then you just right-click the white space on the right pane and choose New --> String value. When the new entry is created, right-click it and choose “Modify”. Then you will be able to set a value to the path of a program that you want to run automatically.

This is how to modify auto-start programs for all users. In order to customize the list of auto-start programs for a specific user, you can log on to that user’s account and launch the Registry Editor from there. Then go to the HKEY_CURRENT_USER directory and navigate down the folders by the same path as it has been done above. Once you’re in the location, apply the same changes as described above.

Still Slow Computer Start Up ?
