How does AhoyTraveler work?

According to our researchers, AhoyTraveler is very similar to BeautyBrilliant, HealthySure, SecretCreditCard, and other allegedly helpful programs. Although the developer of these programs is unknown – and it is unknown whether it is the same developer – it is obvious that they function in the same way. As you install any of these programs, a separate Internet Explorer window will show up promoting third-party offers and deals. Since IE is pre-installed on all Windows versions, it is not surprising that this is the browser that is used to deliver ads. Although you might expect ads from AhoyTraveler, considering that it meant to deliver the so-called “Exclusive Offers” related to travel deals, it is unlikely that you will expect random surveys, subscription forms, and suspicious ads (e.g., “Today’s Deals”) as well. The official installer of AhoyTraveler might introduce you to various suspicious programs, and this heavily depends on where you are located. Although this adware is available to users all over the world, the additional programs might be specifically selecting according to your geographical location. Regardless, your location is unlikely to have any effect on the content show to you via the interface of this strange program. As you launch from the Desktop (a shortcut icon is added after installation), you will be shown the content of some website without its URL address. Additionally, the interface of this adware will be used to introduce you to Mindspark toolbars (e.g., MyFormsFinder Toolbar) and java\flash updates by bytedownloadlaboratory.com.
