What is Aerojet?
Aerojet is a useless and potentially harmful advertising program that can crawl onto your system without your knowledge or permission. This is possible when you install a malicious freeware bundle that contains a number of malware threats. This questionable program does not necessarily mean direct and major threat to your files or your operating system; however, you cannot rule it out as a potential risk source either. In fact, our malware researchers have categorized this software as a potentially unwanted program (PUP) that shows adware and hijacker features. This simply means that you may be flooded with annoying and potentially unsafe third-party advertisements as well as certain browser settings also may be changed. We have found that this PUP only affects your Google Chrome browser but since it most likely entered your system along with malware infections, you should definitely not take this invasion too lightly. We advise you to remove Aerojet and every other potentially risky program as well.
Where does Aerojet come from?
Although this PUP seems to infiltrate your system silently, it still has a promotional webpage at aerojet.co. You cannot directly download or install this tool from this official page unless you contact the authors by sending some personal details about yourself, including your name, telephone number, and e-mail address. Unfortunately, schemers can misuse these types of information and you could be bombarded by useless and annoying marketing materials and commercials, called calls, and the like in the near future. If you try to contact the creators by clicking the “Click here” button, you end up on a “404 Not found” error page. The same happens if you try to acquire information about how to uninstall this tool. This is rather suspicious behavior and should raise the red flag about the reliability of this program.
So if you cannot even download this PUP from official sources, there have to be alternative channels for distribution. The sad news is that this infection can be spread via freeware bundles that could pack a number of malware threats. This means that if you find this PUP on board, there is a good chance that there are a few adware programs, browser hijackers, Trojans, and PUPs on your system, too. You can infect your computer with such a malicious package after clicking on corrupt third-party ads offered by adware apps, browser hijackers, or PUPs as well. Of course, you can also click on such ads if you visit shady file-sharing websites. All in all, when you are infected with this worthless application, you need to make sure that you detect and clean all threats from your system after you delete Aerojet.
How does Aerojet work?
After this stealthy program sneaks onto your computer, it starts displaying third-party advertisements and may change your new tab page and default search engine settings as well. The official site says that this software “is designed to show you for better webpages, the displayed based on your search and browsing criteria selected from our advertisers targeted search terms.” This means that you will be exposed to third-party content, i.e., commercials and websites based on your browser history and your preferences. Here is what the EULA says:
We may make available significant amounts of third party content, including links to other websites, articles, forums, ads and offers, and other multi-media content.
Even though the authors claim that you will only be introduced to legitimate advertisements, you can never be sure it is true. Cyber criminals can easily exploit such a program and send corrupt ads and links to your screen. Clicking on such content could take you to malicious websites and you could be scammed and lose money. But even if you “only” infect your system with more threats, a visit to such pages always ends badly for you. Therefore, we suggest that you do not hesitate and remove Aerojet now.
How can I delete Aerojet?
We have found that the uninstaller of this PUP leaves certain leftovers. But we still think that the easiest way for you to eliminate Aerojet from your system is to run this uninstaller via Control Panel first. Then, you can easily get rid of the leftovers. Please follow our instructions if you are ready to manually strike down on this annoying infection. However, if you would prefer to use an automated tool, we suggest that you find a trustworthy anti-malware application and use that to clean and protect your system from all known malware infections.
