What is BuiltMoneyMaker?
We at Anti-spyware-101.com want to inform you about a recently released malicious program called BuiltMoneyMaker. It is an adware-type infection and we recommend that you remove it as soon as possible. This program is promoted as a tool that should help you make easy money, but it does nothing of the sort. Nevertheless, it makes money for its developers and their clients when users click the ads. However, that is not the worst aspect of this infection. The worst part is that this program can advertise scam websites, malware downloads, and other undesirable content that can jeopardize your system’s security. We suggest that you take this infection seriously and get it out of your PC before it becomes infected with more malware.
What does BuiltMoneyMaker do?
If your computer has become infected with this adware, then you will notice its intrusive ads right from the begining. BuiltMoneyMaker launches immediately after it is installed and will start rendering commercial advertisements using two methods. Our malware analysts have found that, for the most part, this adware will show ads in the form of a Graphical User Interface (GUI) window that loads a site Builtmoneymaker.com/redir.php that redirects to the promoted websites, such as Savings-galleria.com, Premiumpromorewards.com. This adware will also force launch Internet Explorer and redirect to websites, such as savings-galleria.com/?agent_ID=202081&campaign_ID=6389, http://omgsweeps.com/hosting/staticpages/OMG_FormA.aspx?c=OMG&redir=0&referid=EvoLeads+Inc._2540&email={email}&transaction_id=102089ec16913cdc0715312cb4c2f2, and so on. Note that the websites mentioned above are not the only ones you can encounter, because the ads are subject to the country/region you are in. Therefore, you might have an entirely different experience.
We are concerned that this program might be the cause of your computer becoming infected with even more malicious software that might slow your computer down and even force it to crash. Our researchers have found that this program’s InstallCore installer featured on its main website at Builtmoneymaker.com already comes bundled with malware and potentially unwanted programs, such as Sweet-page.com and Yoursearching.com (browser hijackers,) System Healer and MyPcBackUp (potentially unwanted programs.) Browser hijackers are set to replace your browser’s homepage and subject you to search results that contain promotional links to potentially unreliable content, while potentially unwanted programs do not do anything at all, yet they usually want you to purchase them to access non-existent functions. So these are the things you will encounter while having this infection on your PC.
Where does BuiltMoneyMaker come from?
While researching this adware, our malware analysts found that this program is almost identical to MultiSurveys, BabyMegs, and Diet Bright. Thus, it is evident that all of these programs come from the same developers, but they have disassociated themselves from their software because it is malicious. Therefore, this application has not been digitally signed by any software company, and this program’s legal documents (EULA, Privacy Policy) found on Builtmoneymaker.com make no mention of the developers or owners.
Regardless, let us talk about how this adware is distributed. Our malware analysts found that this adware might come bundled with other software and put up for download on shady software distributing websites. However, this distribution method is not as efficient as the main site — Builtmoneymaker.com. This site hosts the download of the aforementioned InstallCore installer that installs BuiltMoneyMaker along with its unwelcome additional programs. Infections with this adware are on the rise because its distribution website is being promoted via the previously mentioned browser hijackers with the possible addition of other browser hijackers we have yet to locate. So you should consider scanning your PC for malware and getting rid of it.
